Adam Lallana will have his improved performances this season rewarded with an improved Liverpool contract.
Lallana has been one of the key players for the Reds in their tilt for the Premier League title, which has since been reduced to a top-four battle.
The midfielder has scored seven goals and assisted a further seven in 22 league appearances; he has contributed directly to the most goals of any Liverpool player.
His current deal expires in summer 2019, but Liverpool are keen to reward his improvement with a four-year deal worth £150,000 a week.
The Daily Telegraph are among the many to report that talks ‘are at an advanced stage’ between the club and the player’s representatives, with Lallana expected to earn a similar amount to Philippe Coutinho, who signed a new deal only recently.
It means that Lallana, who joined in summer 2014 for £25million from Southampton, will remain at Anfield until he is 32, ensuring his ‘peak years’ are served at the club.
The Telegraph add: ‘Klopp has wanted Lallana tied down as he sees him as the foundation of the side he is building, despite the recent downturn at the start of 2017.’
