GPGT: Sua Ki JB Trip plus Imitation Kam Long Fish Head Curry

Went JB with NeverEver today. Supposed to meet at 1300 Woodlands MRT, but he got held back from a meeting, so we took a cab from Hougang to Woodlands instead. Took bus service 950 at around 1345, reached JB by 1415.

Both suaku and bo go JB much (or at all for the past decade or so), so we got quite lost after exiting the Malaysia customs. Almost took ANOTHER bus before we had the good sense to ask a lady, and realised City Square is just adjacent.

Many people recommended Kam Long Fish Head Curry, so we went to jiak. Was told it's just next to City Square, but couldn't locate the place. After asking the information counter, found out we were at Komtar JBCC instead. After navigating our way to City Square, we approached another information counter for directions again.

Finally saw a sign that says Kam Long after about 10 minutes.

Fish was tender, gravy was good, and the medium size one costs RM 34. We were raving about it and saying how it justified the numerous recommendations.

Then jiak halfway, we realised something amiss. A forum friend told me 2 things:

1. Kam Long only sells Fish Head Curry
2. They operate until 1600.

Upon reaching the stall, the friendly uncle asked if we wanted pig trotters. A sign displays the closing time at 1800. We dismissed it as the information given by my friend to be outdated and inaccurate.

And then after jiak finish, we saw this.

Then we both burst into laughter and lamented at how kumgong we were. Jiak sala liao. The one we went to had 2 other diners nia, whilst the above was crowded like siao. Although we both didn't get to try the real deal, we agreed that the imitation Kam Long is tasty and a similar dish in Singapore would cost a lot more.

For anyone interested in the imitation stall, it's beside a 7-11, with a rather cute cashier.
